WHIO news reports that the bug looks harmless, but carries something called the Trypanosoma cruzi parasite, which, when introduced into the human body, can be deadly. The parasite produces Changas disase, which has infected as many as 8 million people all over the world.
Changas is more common in Latin America and causes heart problems leading to death. Physical symptoms usually begin after about two months, and include fever, headache, enlarged lymph glands, muscle pain, and difficulty breathing. The symptoms are similar to flu, making the disease more difficult to identify.
